WOODBURY EARTH DAY CANCELLED
We regret to announce that Woodbury Earth Day has been cancelled. The safety of attendees and exhibitors always comes first. This announcement follows the guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued on March 15, 2020 to cancel events drawing greater than 50 people for the next eight weeks in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As you know, this directive was further underscored by an executive order from Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont.
In response to these exceptional circumstances, Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition (event host) is no longer accepting vendor applications at this time. We will also not further process any applications that have already been received.
For applications that have been fully processed, we are modifying our No Refund Policy to offer a refund of the vendor fee minus 15%. This allows us to recover the event permit fees, non-refundable deposits on rentals, and other expenses already incurred. To receive a refund, you will need to submit the Refund Request Form.
If you are in a position to do so, we welcome you the option to forgo the refund of the vendor fee and have it be fully directed as a charitable contribution to Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition (PRWC), host of Woodbury Earth Day. PRWC is a Woodbury-based environmental non-profit dedicated to protecting and restoring local water resources. Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition's programs and activities underscore our collective roles as stewards of our environment and promote good habits to keep our watershed and rivers healthy. Your contribution will support PRWC’s stream sampling program and implementation of the recently adopted Watershed Based Plan.
In light of the cancellation and the revenue impact to small businesses like yours, we will still continue to promote your business through our social media avenues to encourage online purchases and other interaction with you while maintaining the recommended “social distance.” If you are offering any online programs or have trails remaining open, please tag us on Facebook so that we may share Earth Day related opportunities in lieu of the festival.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and lost opportunity, but we look forward to seeing you next year.
In the meantime, as you and your loved ones practice the recommended “social distancing,” we encourage you to spend time outdoors, enjoy fresh air and the beautiful rivers and trails throughout our watershed. We wish you all good health.
Thank you for your understanding,
Carol and the entire Woodbury Earth Day Committee
