PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers are a vital component in making the 2018 Earth Day Celebration a success! While there are numerous vendors, exhibitors, entertainers, and activity leaders, they need the support of volunteers to ensure that the day is enjoyable for everyone.
We are seeking both Steering Committee and Event Day Volunteers.
Steering Committee volunteers help organize various aspects of the event including, but not limited to the following areas: booking musicians, registering vendors, coordinating volunteers, detailing site maps and operations, and promoting the event.
Event Day Volunteers are needed for the following roles: set-up, vendor check-in, grounds crew, stage hands, arts and crafts, clean-up, and photography.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 3 (three) hours of volunteering during the course of the the Earth Day event. With this commitment, volunteers will receive a complementary T-shirt to wear during your shift and keep. Volunteers are expected to arrive at least 10 minutes before their shift to check-in at the Volunteer/Information Tent and get their T-shirt. Volunteers are also expected to work for the full duration they have committed to serving. Volunteers are expected to act in a mature and responsible manner, as they represent both the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and the Town of Woodbury.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?
Event Steering Committee (December through April)
Dedicated volunteers help organize various aspects of the event including, but not limited to the following areas: booking musicians, registering vendors, coordinating volunteers, detailing site maps and operations, and promoting the event.
Set-up (8:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
Set-up for the Celebration includes a wide variety of tasks that range from setting up tables and chairs to posting signs and placing trash/recycling cans around the grounds to checking in vendors and helping them find their exhibit space, unloading their cars, and helping them set up their tents and tables.
Runners and Ground Crew (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Runners are needed throughout the celebration and help with a variety of jobs like emptying trash and recycling cans as needed, picking up trash that may end up on the ground, and periodically checking and restocking bathrooms. A runner is a volunteer that is ready and willing to help with just about anything.
Stage Assistants (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Assist with stage transitions between performances on the Main Stage (bands/music) and the Community Stage (activities & demonstrations like yoga, birds of prey presentation, etc). Volunteers will help with moving instruments, configuring chairs or tables as needed to meet the performers’ needs.
Arts & Crafts (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
What Earth Day Celebration would be complete without an Arts & Crafts area? Arts and crafts will be available for kids to stop by, do and bring home. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and break-down of this area, and to lead craft projects throughout the Celebration.
Break-down (3:30 PM – 5:00 PM)
Celebration break-down includes removing signs, removing trash cans around the grounds, helping vendors take down their tents and load their cars, and “sweeping” the grounds for stray bits of trash.
Photography (All Day)
