The 2024 Earth Day theme is Planet vs. Plastics.
This is the largest Earth Day celebration in CT. There will be over 120 vendors, food, educators and activities, with an anticipated over 5,000 attendees, we'd love for you to be a part of this event!

For Earth Day 2024 we call to end plastics for the sake of the health of man and the planet.
60X40 is a goal of 60% plastic reduction by the year 2040, together we can do it.
Here are some facts!
9.1 BILLION tons of plastic has been produced since plastic was introduced in the 1950s. 79% of plastic that has ever been made is still in landfills.
50 billion bottles of water are purchased every year by Americans, per month that is approximately 13 bottles for every man, woman, & child in America.
Every year approximately 14 MILLION tons of plastic end up in our oceans across the globe.
As plastics sit in our landfills and polluting our oceans, toxic partials enter the soil and our waterways that can and have entered our food chain.
Let's all take action for a healthier planet and ourselves.

Like the original Earth Day celebrated in America in 1970, Woodbury’s version of Earth Day has evolved over time. Celebrating Earth Day in Woodbury is a tradition that began almost 30 years ago in the New Morning Market parking lot at their old store in Middle Quarter Mall. After hosting an annual celebration in the parking lot for two decades, New Morning Market worked with the town and community partners to move the event to Hollow Park in 2012 as it had grown to attract upwards of 5,000 attendees and more space was needed. Since 2016, the event has been presented under the leadership of the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition. In 2024 Woodbury Parks and Recreation will assume the event leadership role. While the event has evolved and the leadership has undergone changes, one of the core themes will continue to remain the same. “Earth Day is about bringing our community together,” a sentiment shared by John Pittari, owner of New Morning Market and founder of Woodbury Earth Day, Carol Haskins, executive director of Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and past event organizer, and Jami Gore, Director of Woodbury Parks and Recreation. An event date for the 2024 Woodbury Earth Day celebration will be announced soon.
