Thank You

On behalf of all of us at Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition (PRWC), thanks to everyone who attended and made Woodbury Earth Day Festival a big success on April 30! PRWC (host), New Morning Market (festival founder), Town of Woodbury, sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers enjoyed a beautiful day with thousands of friends and neighbors in a celebration of natural resources. After a two-year hiatus, we were bolstered by the strong community support for the event’s return. Everyone was clearly ready to get outside for a nice day of family fun to celebrate the planet we all share.

This year’s Festival featured over 80 vendors and exhibitors. Together they offered upcycled makerspaces, seed plantings, vegetable painting, an Earth Day poster display, interactive recycling exhibits, dog adoptions, baby goats and ducks, boating safety, woodturning demonstrations, hula hooping, face painting, henna tattoos, artisan made goods, environmental resources, and more.

In the spirit of Earth Day, the Festival hosted earth-friendly activities including environmentally-themed magic shows, a compost workshop, a rain barrel workshop, and a Hatha Yoga class. Festival-goers enjoyed guided nature walks including a garden tour, a bird walk, a tree identification walk, a plant identification walk, and a river exploration program.

Festival proceeds support PRWC’s protection and restoration of the rivers and aquifers that provide clean drinking water, a home to wildlife, and miles of opportunities for recreation and enjoyment. PRWC thanks its many volunteers and PRWC sponsors including Connecticut Water Company; New Morning Market; Aquarion Water Company; O&G Industries; Giuliano, Richardson, and Sfara; Secor, Cassidy, & McPartland, P.C.; Ion Bank; SLR Consulting; Bennett Sullivan Associates; Civil 1; Gager, Bower and Scalzo, LLP; Chatfield True Value; Earth Tones Native Plant Nursery; Southbury Printing Center; and USA Hauling and Recycling for their support.
