Bead for Life     

Bead for Life sells beautiful, recycled, paper jewelry and woven baskets, handmade by women in Uganda who are living in extreme poverty. Since Bead for Life closed due to COVID, this year, ALL money will go to their sister organization, Street Business School.

Bent of the River Audubon Center    

Bent of the River Audubon will again be joining us as an exhibitor and as an activity leader at this year's #WoodburyEarthDay festival.  Bent of the River Audubon Center is a 700-acre nature sanctuary and education center located in Southbury, Connecticut. Along with Greenwich Audubon Center and Sharon Audubon Center, they are part of Audubon Connecticut, a state office of the National Audubon Society.

Glebe House & Jykll Garden        

Located in historic Woodbury's village center, the Glebe House Museum offers visitors a glimpse of Revolutionary War-Era Connecticut. The 18th century Georgian House is furnished as the home of the Rev. John Rutgers Marshall, whose family lived in the "glebe" during the turmoil of the American War for independence. In 1926, Gertrude Jekyll, the renowned English horticulture designer, was commissioned to create an old-fashioned, English garden for the site.

We are pleased to welcome Kindergarten & Beyond Learning Center to Earth Day this year!  K&BLC is a small business in Woodbury that promotes Earth friendly activities through engaging lessons. They teach students from ages 4.5 through the 12th grade level.

Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society              

"The Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society (MUUS) is a small, liberal congregation welcoming all.  Our mission is to nurture the human spirit, bringing love and justice to transform ourselves and the world. Honoring the Earth and all that is one of our seven principles."  In our Earth Day booth, we will have bird seed sandboxes with recycled materials to dig and play in the bird seed- an Earth friendly play space for children ages 6 and under.  Come and join us!

Visit the New Morning tent to learn more about their mission and sample a few of their incredible artisan vendor offerings. Joining New Morning Market this season are: Hudson Valley Fisheries, Struesli, Toadstool Labs, Komfort Zone, Nantucket Spider, Sacred Grounds and Lesser Evil.

Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments            

The Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments supports 19 municipalities in west-central Connecticut on regional issues. Their environmental efforts include administering waste reduction pilots, organizing an annual composter/rain barrel sale, supporting multiuse trails, promoting solar energy, holding sustainability workshops, and partnering with SustainableCT.  

           

Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy            

Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy is the largest land trust in Connecticut.  NCLC is a gaurdian of natural and working lands and drinking water resources and has protected 13,000 acres (and counting) in 17 communities in Northwest Connecticut.  These protected lands include 21 public hiking preserves, 3,000 acres of habitat for rare species, and 41 working farms. 

Peanut Planet   

Join the movement and BRING YOUR PACKING PEANUTS TO EARTH DAY! Peanut Planet will be collecting clean, reusable packing peanuts at this event. Peanut Planet collects packing peanuts and other packing materials and distributes them for reuse at no charge to the recipients.

Pomperaug Valley Garden Club 

The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club sponsors many local beautification projects, including the installation and maintenance of plantings at many of the town’s parks and greens. Sustainable Southbury   

Sustainable Southbury is working to make Southbury a more sustainable community. This work includes clean air and water, clean energy and energy conservation, waste reduction, recycling, expanding gardening and composting, pollinator pathways, and other sustainability items such as affordable housing, pedestrian friendly streets and supporting the local economy.  In 2022, Southbury was recognized as a Bronze Certified Sustainable CT community.  They are now working towards Silver level certification!

TeachArt2Me    

We are going to miss Jamilah's Henna Creations this year!  But, don't fret!  Jamilah introduced us to her friends at TeachArt2me -- a children's entertainment company that has operated in Connecticut for over 20 years! They provide professional quality face painting, glitter tattoos and henna tattoos with FDA compliant body art products.

Terry Walters, LLC          

Best-selling cookbook author, Terry Walters, returns to the shelves with "NOURISH: Plant-based Recipes to Feed Body Mind and Soul." The Healing Herb Garden             

Do you know about The Healing Herb Garden? They grow elderberry and medicinal herbs on their small farm in Newtown and make elderberry based products such as syrups, teas, jams, honey, soaps and candles. They also sell elderberry plants. Visit their booth on April 29th to learn more about this amazing little farm!

Do you have gardening on the mind? The Master Gardener Program is an educational outreach program that is part of the university of Connecticut Cooperative Extension system. CT Master Gardeners provide science-based information on home & garden issues and offer environmentally safe solutions.

 

UCONN Master Composter Program  

Enriching the soil naturally... The University of Connecticut Master Composter Program, started in 2009, in a train the trainer program where participants are educated about composting and in turn, pass the knowledge onto others.  Volunteers will staff a compost information table with demonstration items and handouts on composting.

Upper Grassy Greens     

Upper Grassy Green is a small, family business that is veteran-owned and operated, located in Woodbury, CT. They grow microgreens and wheatgrass all year round using organic practices. Grower MeiLing says.... "We grow with our hands, love & without chemicals." Can't wait until Earth Day to try their microgreens?  Look for them in the produce department New Morning Market, Bethel Farmers Market, or on a plate at several local restaurants!

USA Waste & Recycling

Waterbury Sail and Power Squadron  

Waterbury Sail and Power Squadron is a unit of the United States Power Squadrons, the largest all-volunteer, non-profit boating organization in the U.S. We promote recreational boating safety through civic service and public education.

Western CT Action Network

Westover School             

Students from Westover School in Middlebury, CT, will be showcasing exciting, student-driven, sustainable, and eco-friendly practices from Westover’s campus. These practices include beekeeping, organic gardening, and promoting Fair Trade. Drop by our tent to discover more!

Woman's Club of Woodbury       

The Women's Club of Woodbury is a non-profit organization established in 1896 which supports current civic, charitable, and environmental interests through education, volunteerism, and fundraising. This year, The Women's Club will be providing recycling tips and tricks. 

Woodbury Ambulance Association     

First aid at Woodbury Earth Day Festival on April 29th will be available from the Woodbury Ambulance Association. WAA is a volunteer-based ambulance service providing emergency medical services to the town of Woodbury, for over forty years. Donations to the association are always appreciated!

Woodbury Chamber of Commerce   

The Woodbury Chamber of Commerce goal is to foster opportunities for businesses and civic members to come together for growth and mutual good. To create a supportive environment to exchange ideas, education and to provide resources and services that will enhance and showcase all our communities have to offer.

Woodbury Conservation Comm.

As a town commission, the Woodbury Conservation Commission provides information and education on environmental values, invasive plants and insects, composting, land preservation, water conservation, and other topics to the community at large. Stop by their booth at Earth Day to learn more about their current initiatives.

The Woodbury Shade Tree & Sidewalk Committee supports the community by planting trees in public spaces, educating residents about trees and their care, and advocating for improved pedestrian walkways.
